2 Samuel 23:1

It is generally believed that a great man is never born but built. But every great man must be born before being built. And the issue of being built is the major reason why many could not be great in life, and neither doing any exploit for the Lord in His work.

There is no one on earth without being born because it is divine and natural. It is a natural law everyone on earth must pass through, but not everyone can pass through the process of making. Being born is ever ordinary while being make is extraordinary, and the fulfillment of our destinies lies nowhere but in the making of our life.

In the life of David, there are lot of lessons to learn from him.

  1. David was a man born by Jesse.

It is important to have parents if we are to succeed in life. The lives of our parents may determine how far we will go in life. And for Jesus to fulfill His destiny on earth, He had to come through some people, Mary and Joseph. But bible says: “Mary was a virgin” while “Joseph was righteous” Matthew 1:19 & 23. The question I want to ask you is, do you have parents? I am never saying you were not born, but do you have them? Jesus had a “just” father and a “holy” mother. I wonder why God did that. That shows what every child will become if they fail to have a good parent. And many destiny are in jeopardy today only because of the way some parents lived their lives. Jesus could not come as saviour until after His parents lived well before God. It is also the same with David, he was born by Jesse. God asked Samuel to go to the house of Jesse. God recognised Jesse and brought out a king for Israel through him. He lived a life that God sees, acceptable and worthy life. That which you are facing now, do you know it may be from your parents? Your parents have power to determine what will come of your future.

  1. David was a raised man.

David was raised as a shepherd by Jesse. He served his father wholeheartedly, when others were at home wining and dining, he was busy protecting the interest of his father. That really made him worthy of the plans of God, until after you are raised you may not fit in in the plan of God. He served his father to fit in in the plan God. Through his training, he overcome the animals and human being at the same time. He was not pronounced as King over Israel until after he was raised by his father through wilderness. Being born is good while being a servant is the best. No wonder Jesus asked us to serve if we are to be great in life, “not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant”. David really served his father and end up not only a leader but king over his country. Do you have anybody you have served or serving? When you choose to serve others then you can be raised to be a pattern and fit in into the plans of God.

  1. David carries anointing of God.

It is generally believed that without anointing you are nothing. It is anointing that makes a difference. Acts 10:38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him”. It is known and called as spiritual empowerment, and it helps a man to flow in supernatural realm appropriately. It is something we must all desire as a child of God, because to effect a positive change and violate the natural law one needs anointing. David really was able to kill bear through the anointing of God upon his life. And this is the result that must come out of a life that is properly built either by man or Holy Spirit. Whoever God built will sure have something rare to offer anybody around him. Anointing makes you an answer to every questions of the people. You just have to desire it, but it will not come until after we have cultivate a sound relationship with Holy Spirit. And for Jesus to be a new man, for Him to go beyond a mere being born, He had to receive Holy Spirit and anointing. Then he was able to go around doing good, healing and deliverance. You may not be able to impart your generation if your head lack the necessary oil.

To have a successful journey in the Lord, you need a father, you must be built and anointed to bring a change and breaks the yoke. David had it all and we also must have it.
