“We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly. Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea” Psalms 106:6-7.

As we celebrate our fathers today. It should be on note that, nearly every situation in the world, be it good or bad, is most times from the fathers. There is much superiority that God created with every man against women. That was why God created man ahead of woman, and without the existence of man, woman will never come into reality. But why did God do that?

  • God did that in order to have His representative here on earth.
  • God did that to have a man that will maintain and coordinate every other creation.
  • God did that in order to have a man that will discharge His intentions towards His people here on earth.

And when such man is failing, is likely for every other thing on earth to fail. It is because; the damage will be so much minimal, if a man is available to defend the course of God before his family and his generation. That is why you are created a man and made first. You are here as man and father; so to defend the course of your God by living a glorious life before your family and your generation.

You can see from Psalms 106:2, the Psalmist was seeking for a man. Just a man that will reveal WHO and WHAT God is to him, but he could not find one. He cried for a man that will stand to speak about the acts of God, but he could not see one. Bible says:

“Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?

The Psalmist desired to hear about God from a man. Not only that, he wanted to see the mighty works of God through a man. But unfortunately he could not see one! The same is happening in our generation today; certain people are genuinely hungry and thirsty to hear undiluted word of God, but they could see. Certain wives and children wanted to serve God really, but where is a man to lead them? A missing glorious father!

Most times I have used my lives to teach others about the possibility of God, especially my children. Whenever they are troubled about anything, I always tell them God will do it. And when God do it, I give them the needed feedback that God has done it. Why? So they could have understanding about God and His acts, Bible say something in Proverbs 22:28:

“Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.”

This is a type of father, who set a landmark for his children to see and follow. What is landmark?

  • It is a prominent feature that is placed in a place to identify something important and of great remembrance.
  • It could be a mark to show you a boundary.
  • It is also a means to understand your limit.

This statement is not only addressing both the mothers and the children, but every other that needed a pattern to live by. God existed for us to know what to follow. Jesus came to the world, for us to have a way of life.

So also with the fathers, you are not just here to play, but to create a pattern for your family to follow. Life is about reaching your desired destinations, but it won’t be possible except you have direction. It is by you, your family will have direction for life. And if it doesn’t start from you, it can’t start from anywhere. Glorious fathers are meant to set a landmark for their family and the coming generations.

The intention of the stubborn children is to remove the landmark, but God also is telling them not to do such, because it is by it the fathers sustained their lives and testimonies before man and God.

“We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly. Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea” Psalms 106:6-7.

You could see children lamenting here, because there was no one to show them the way. The older generation lived a terrible and SINFUL life and the children of new generation lived in error as a result of that.

It is not only that, the new generation lamented over the IGNORANCE of their fathers, upon all the miracles God performed before them in Egypt. The fathers saw the miracle, but they could not understand any.

Furthermore, the fathers here are FORGETFUL. They easily forget things of God. They could not keep into their memory every act of God. They are empty in terms of God.

You could see from the verses three things used to qualify inglorious fathers:

  1. They are sinful.
  2. They are ignorant.
  3. They are forgetful.

From the Psalmist the following will be effects of not having glorious father:

  • There will be misrepresentation of God on earth by the fathers.
  • There will be sinful children.
  • There will be repetition of errors of the past.
  • There will be crisis as of the past.

“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all MEN every where to repent:” Act 17:30.

Why is God addressing all men? Why not women? Men are the determinant of every events here on earth, without them nothing will change. And until after you change as man, you world may never experience change as desired by God. God is commanding you to repent. It may not be from sin as believer, but from your ignorance as a father.

May the Lord help you for your world to be transformed for Jesus.
